What makes Work Experience a different TGT post

Work Experience is the only KVS TGT post whose entry qualification is an engineering degree. That single difference reshapes everything downstream: the applicant pool is engineering graduates who took a B.Ed., and the Tier-II subject paper is an electronics paper, not a school-subject paper.

Dates and windows

The application window, both exam dates and the result mechanism are common to every post in CBSE Recruitment Notification 01/2025, across KVS and NVS. Only the Tier-II result phase is post-specific, and Work Experience fell in one of the earliest phases. What this means for your preparation

Most candidates come to this post from an engineering background and assume the Tier-II paper will be a general school-level work-education paper. It is not. The reported scope is an electrical and electronics engineering paper of degree standard. The other common error is the reverse: treating it as a full engineering examination, when the descriptive half rewards teaching-oriented explanation rather than derivation.

An engineering degree is the gate

The notification's essential qualification for TGT (Work Experience) reads: a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognised institution or university with at least 50 per cent marks, plus a B.Ed. degree with at least 50 per cent marks from an NCTE-recognised institution, with knowledge of computer applications. A diploma is not enough, and an engineering degree in a mechanical, civil or computer branch does not meet the wording. This is the narrowest entry channel of any TGT post in the notification, and it is the reason the applicant field for 250 posts is far smaller than for an academic subject with a comparable vacancy count.

The reported subject scope is electronics, in five blocks

Coaching compilations for this paper, in the absence of an official CBSE topic list, converge on five blocks. First, circuit fundamentals: Ohm's law, resistive networks, Kirchhoff's laws, network theorems, passive elements, magnetism and transformers. Second, AC circuits, resonance, RC and RL time constants, filters, solid-state physics and the P-N junction. Third, special diodes including Zener, tunnel and varactor types, optoelectronics, rectification, regulated DC supplies and transistor characteristics. Fourth, single- and multistage amplifiers, the decibel scale, feedback, field-effect transistors, oscillators and modulation. Fifth, operational amplifiers, number systems, Boolean algebra, logic families, transducers and instruments such as the oscilloscope. Treat this as a reported scope, not an officially notified syllabus.

Sixty objective marks, forty descriptive, in 150 minutes

Tier-II runs 70 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes: 60 objective questions worth one mark each with 0.25 deducted for a wrong answer, and 10 descriptive questions worth 40 marks in total. For an electronics paper that split matters more than usual. The objective half rewards fast numerical work on circuit values, biasing and gain, where a calculation slip costs 1.25 marks against a blank. The descriptive half has no negative marking, so every one of the ten should carry an attempt. Well-labelled circuit diagrams and clean definitions of terms earn marks in a teaching-recruitment paper that a page of algebra does not.

250 posts and a narrow, self-selected field

The advertised 250 posts break down as 103 unreserved, 67 OBC non-creamy-layer, 37 SC, 25 EWS and 18 ST. With Tier-II shortlisting at roughly one in ten from Tier-I and interview shortlisting at about one in three against vacancies, the funnel is the same as every other post. The difference is upstream: the pool is limited to electrical and electronics graduates who also hold a B.Ed., a combination few people accumulate deliberately. Candidates who read the low competition as low difficulty tend to underprepare the digital electronics and operational-amplifier material, which sits at the end of the reported scope and is where descriptive questions are easiest to set.

What the job is, and what it pays

TGT posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas sit at Level-7 of the pay matrix, Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400, with an upper age limit of 35 years for direct recruitment and the usual category relaxations. The Work Experience teacher's classroom is the work-education and pre-vocational component of the middle and secondary curriculum rather than a board-examined subject, which changes the teaching load and the nature of the interview, where 15 per cent of the final merit sits. The remaining 85 per cent comes from the Tier-II paper. Tier-I marks are discarded entirely once the Tier-II shortlist is drawn.
