GATE 2027 is organized by IIT Madras; the official notification and brochure were released 20 July 2026 on gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The computer-based exam spans 30 papers, including Production and Industrial Engineering (PI), across six days: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027.

GATE 2027 registration was postponed from an originally announced 14 August 2026 start; the GOAPS portal opened 27 August 2026, with the regular deadline 27 September 2026 and a late-fee window extending to 5 October 2026.

The official GATE 2027 PI syllabus, released by IIT Madras, keeps seven sections, and its Manufacturing Processes II section explicitly lists additive manufacturing techniques — stereolithography, fused filament fabrication, selective laser sintering and melting, directed energy deposition — plus Internet of Things and digital twins under Computer Integrated Manufacturing.

Paper-specific exam dates and sessions (forenoon or afternoon) for PI within the six GATE 2027 test days have not yet been announced; IIT Madras is expected to confirm the schedule only with admit cards, tentatively in early January 2027.

GATE 2027 will be conducted by IIT Madras, but the official notification is still not out. As of July 11, 2026 reports point to a release in late July or August 2026, with the GOAPS application window expected to open around August 24, 2026 and close on September 29, 2026.

As per the tentative schedule circulating ahead of the notification, GATE 2027 is expected on February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2027, as a three-hour computer-based test across 30 papers. The exact day and shift for Production and Industrial Engineering (PI) comes only with the official IIT Madras brochure.

IIT Guwahati's official GATE 2026 cut-off table lists Production and Industrial Engineering (PI) qualifying marks as 36 for General, 32.4 for OBC-NCL and EWS, and 24 for SC, ST and PwD, a far steeper bar than the 25.2 General cut-off in Mechanical Engineering.

GATE lets a candidate sit up to two papers in one cycle, and PI pairs naturally with Mechanical Engineering: PI leans on manufacturing, industrial engineering, operations research and quality, while ME weights design and thermal sciences. The combination must be selected while filling the GOAPS application form.

Until IIT Madras releases the GATE 2027 syllabus, the official GATE 2026 PI syllabus is the working reference. It spans Engineering Mathematics, General Engineering, Manufacturing Processes I and II, Quality and Reliability, and Operations Research and Operations Management, with the core worth 72 of 100 marks.
