Alerts and Updates for GATE Aerospace Engineering

IIT Madras is the organizing institute for GATE 2027 and released the official notification and brochure on 20 July 2026 at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The exam, covering 30 papers including Aerospace Engineering (AE), will be a computer-based test held on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027.

GATE 2027 registration, originally planned for 14 August 2026, was postponed; the GOAPS application portal opened on 27 August 2026 and is open now. Regular registration (no late fee) closes 27 September 2026, with an extended late-fee window until 5 October 2026.

IIT Madras has revised the GATE syllabus across papers for the first time in five years and introduced a new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper for 2027. AE aspirants should download the updated AE syllabus PDF from the official portal rather than rely on older editions.

The specific date and session (forenoon or afternoon) for the AE paper within the six exam days has not been announced yet; IIT Madras will assign each of the 30 papers a slot, confirmed only when admit cards are released, expected around early January 2027.

The GATE 2027 notification has not been released yet. IIT Madras is widely reported as the organising institute for GATE 2027 under the IIT-IISc rotation, but this is still described as expected rather than officially confirmed, and the official brochure and portal are projected to go live in the last week of July or in August 2026.

As per the tentative calendar being reported, GATE 2027 registration is expected to open around August 24, 2026, with a normal deadline near September 29 and an extended late-fee window to October 13, 2026. The exam is tentatively listed for February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2027, with results expected in March 2027.

The official GATE 2027 syllabus has not been published; it is released with the brochure by the organising institute. GATE runs 30 papers and allows a candidate to appear in two papers from a permitted combination. Aerospace Engineering aspirants should prepare from the GATE 2026 AE syllabus until the 2027 one is out.

The GATE Aerospace Engineering paper carries 65 questions for 100 marks in 180 minutes: General Aptitude 15 marks, Engineering Mathematics around 13 marks, and the AE core the rest, spanning aerodynamics, aircraft structures, propulsion, flight mechanics and space dynamics. Paper code is AE.

For the current cycle, IIT Guwahati issued GATE 2026 scorecards from March 27, 2026; free download ran to May 31, 2026 and a paid download at Rs 500 is available till December 31, 2026. A GATE score stays valid for three years, so a GATE 2026 AE score can still be used alongside a 2027 attempt.
