The honest position is that the paper's structure is known and its existence as a DSSSB PGT subject is not officially confirmed for any current cycle. Dates and windows

The DSSSB PGT recruitment runs as a combined examination in which one notification, one application window and one examination programme serve every subject paper at once, so a Home Science candidate's calendar will be the family's calendar. At present Home Science has no place in it, which is why every forward-looking line above is tentative rather than confirmed.

What this means for your preparation

Home Science is the outlier of the DSSSB PGT family, and the error that costs candidates most is assuming that because other PGT subjects are recruiting, theirs is too. There is no Home Science post code in Advertisement 10/2024, so nothing to apply for, sit or await a result on. What exists is a reported annexure entry of three posts, all female, in a PGT recruitment that has not been notified. The second error is name blindness: DSSSB uses the label Domestic Science, and the 129 Domestic Science Teacher posts advertised in 2026 are a school-teacher grade, not PGT.

Three posts, female only, and what that means

Adda247's reading of the circulated annexure puts Home Science at three posts, all reserved for women, the smallest entry among the thirty-three subjects listed, with Punjabi next at four female posts. Compare that with English at 73, Political Science at 58, Hindi at 55, Maths at 49 and History at 47. A three-seat list changes the preparation calculus completely: there is no band of safe marks, the cut-off is set by whoever the top three applicants happen to be in that year, and a single careless negative marking decision can be decisive. It also means no male candidate can apply to this subject if the annexure holds, which is a hard eligibility bar rather than a preference, and one worth confirming from the notification the moment it appears.

Domestic Science is not a synonym for PGT Home Science

Two distinct things carry the name. Prepp's DSSSB PGT vacancy table records the subject as Domestic Science Teacher, so within the PGT family the Board's own label differs from the word candidates search for. Separately, Adda247 reports Advertisement No. 03/2026, released 29 May 2026 with applications open from 16 June to 15 July 2026, covering 1,417 teaching posts of which 129 are Domestic Science Teacher, alongside TGT Computer Science at 675, TGT Special Education at 163 and Special Educator Primary at 450. Adda247 states plainly that no PGT positions are included in that recruitment, and that all posts in it are Group B. A candidate holding an M.Sc. Home Science with B.Ed who wanted the postgraduate grade, and applied there because the subject name matched, applied to the wrong grade.

The paper you would sit, if it is notified

Toppersexam's Home Science page sets out the same scheme as every other PGT subject: 300 questions and 300 marks in 180 minutes, with 0.25 deducted per wrong answer. Section A is 100 marks in five blocks of 20 questions each, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Hindi Language and Comprehension, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and Arithmetic and Numerical Ability. Section B is 200 questions for 200 marks described as MCQs pertaining to the post-graduation qualification and the teaching methodology required for the post. The absence of a published subject-wise Section B list for Home Science, which Career Power's syllabus page confirms it does not carry, is itself a planning fact: work from the post-graduation curriculum rather than from a topic list.

What the subject content is reported to cover

The topic areas listed on the Toppersexam Home Science page are applied physical sciences, food and nutrition, food science, human development, resource management, nutrition across age groups, psychology, public health, human resource management, sustainable development, diet therapy, food safety, and teaching methodology. That is a coaching source, not an official syllabus, and should be read as a plausible map rather than as the examinable list. Two features are worth noting. The nutrition cluster appears three times over, as food and nutrition, as nutrition for different age groups, and as diet therapy and food safety, which suggests it is the weight-bearing area. And the presence of applied physical sciences and psychology means the paper reaches outside the household-management stereotype into chemistry of foods and developmental psychology.

Sequencing preparation when nothing is notified

With no post code, no window and no date, the useful work is the part that will not change. Section A is identical across every PGT subject and accounts for a third of the marks, so it can be built now from the published five-block breakdown: General Awareness covering awards, books and authors, sports, history, geography, current affairs, polity and economics; reasoning covering analogies, syllogism, space visualisation and blood relations; numerical ability covering number systems, simplification, decimals, data interpretation, LCM, HCF and ratio; and the English and Hindi grammar blocks. The pedagogy portion of Section B is also common across subjects and revisable from B.Ed material. Keep the subject content on a slower cycle until a notification fixes the syllabus, and watch the DSSSB site for a notice using the Domestic Science wording as well as Home Science.
