The original Central Universities Common Entrance Test was renamed CUET and has been run by NTA for 54 central universities since 2022; today CUCET most often refers to Chandigarh University's own separate entrance test, run independently of NTA's CUET.

CUCET no longer exists under that name. The central-university entrance test is now CUET, conducted by NTA, and its scope has widened beyond central universities to state, deemed and private institutions. CUET (UG) 2026 was held in computer-based mode only, per the official information bulletin.
