CBSE launched a Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence curriculum for Classes III to VIII on April 1, 2026 through Circular Acad-15/2026, effective in all affiliated schools from session 2026-27. It is internally assessed and builds logical reasoning, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, digital literacy and ethical use of technology.

CBSE's three-language guidelines of June 29, 2026 confirm that the mandatory third language, R3, applies to the Class VI 2026-27 batch onwards. Students currently in Classes VII, VIII and IX will not face a CBSE board examination in the third language when they reach Class X.
