CBSE has rolled out a new Scheme of Studies for 2026-27 aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE 2023): the term-wise syllabus format is discontinued and every subject now uses a newly named, NCF-aligned textbook rather than the old term-split books.

For Class 7 specifically, the new NCERT textbooks for 2026-27 are Poorvi (English, replacing Honeycomb), Malhar (Hindi), Ganita Prakash (Maths), Curiosity (Science) and Exploring Society: India and Beyond (Social Science), continuing the integrated-subject approach begun in Class 6.

Educart

A new Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence (CT and AI) curriculum has been introduced for Classes 3-8 for 2026-27, embedded into Maths, Science and Social Studies and transacted through internal, non-board-graded assessment rather than as a separate examined subject.

CBSE launched a Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence curriculum for Classes III to VIII on April 1, 2026 through Circular Acad-15/2026, effective in all affiliated schools from session 2026-27. It is internally assessed and builds logical reasoning, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, digital literacy and ethical use of technology.

CBSE Academics - CT and AI Curriculum

CBSE's three-language guidelines of June 29, 2026 confirm that the mandatory third language, R3, applies to the Class VI 2026-27 batch onwards. Students currently in Classes VII, VIII and IX will not face a CBSE board examination in the third language when they reach Class X.

Class 7 follows the NCF-SE 2023 aligned NCERT textbooks introduced from 2025-26: Ganita Prakash for Mathematics, Curiosity for Science, Exploring Society for Social Science, Poorvi for English and Malhar for Hindi. Reprint 2026-27 editions are free to download chapter-wise from ncert.nic.in.
