Fit India Quiz Past Editions: 2021, 2022 and 2023 Results and NumbersOpen the full article →

Checked 3 October 2026. From PIB and SAI releases for each edition, the 2021 and 2023 guidelines, SAI’s 2024 tenders and the Fit India pages. The national champions are reported, not official. A new edition could be announced at any time.

There have been three editions of the Fit India Quiz, each launched around National Sports Day (29 August) and each running well over a year from launch to national final. The third, Fit India Quiz 2023, never visibly finished: its State rounds ended in April 2024, and in July and August 2024 SAI was still looking for a prize-money sponsor and a broadcaster. This guide sets the three editions side by side, using official releases where they exist and marking the rest as reported.

Status on 3 October 2026

The last Fit India Quiz we can find is the 2023 edition (the third): its preliminary round ran on 21–22 December 2023 and its State rounds on 26 March – 10 April 2024. No 2024, 2025 or 2026 edition has been announced. The official quiz page still shows the 2023 text, the NTA registration portal does not respond, and National Sports Day 2026 (28–30 August) ran without the quiz. Any “2026 dates” you see elsewhere are guesses.

Participation

The prelim figure is the best measure of reach, because it counts students who actually sat the test. It rose by about 70% from 2021 to 2022, which is the growth PIB itself reported. For 2023 only registrations were published; a Sikkim government note calls the 1,03,671 figure “participated”, but SAI’s own EOI calls it registration, and in 2022 only about a third of registered students sat the prelim. We therefore treat it as registrations.

Students in each edition’s prelim
2021 — took the prelim36,299
2022 — took the prelim61,981
2022 — registered (reported)1,74,473

Green: students who took the prelim. Amber: registrations. PIB, SAI; 2022 registrations from Khel Today (reported).

Measure (our arithmetic)Figure
Growth in prelim takers, 2021 to 2022+70.8% (36,299 → 61,981); PIB says 70%
2022 registered students who took the prelim35.5%
Change in registrations, 2022 to 20231,74,473 → 1,03,671, down about 41%
Change in registered schools, 2022 to 202342,490 → 41,789, almost flat

The drop in registrations while the number of schools held steady suggests schools were entering fewer students each in 2023, which fits a fee that doubled from ₹50 to ₹100 per student. That is our reading; no official document explains it.

2021: the first edition

The Fit India Quiz was launched on 1 September 2021 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, with a fee of ₹250 per student that was waived for the first 2 lakh students from the first 1 lakh schools, at most two per school. The guidelines had planned a June launch, July registration and a September prelim; in the event registration was reported to close on 15 October 2021 and the prelim ran on 15–16 November 2021. The result, on 25 January 2022, covered 36,299 students from 13,502 schools in more than 626 districts. PIB first said 361 schools went to the State rounds, and later 359. The State finals ran in February and March 2022.

PIB announced in April 2022 that the national round would be held in Delhi; in July 2022 it said the contestants were “now in Mumbai”, where the national round began on 22 July 2022 for broadcast on Star Sports. The Daily Pioneer reported Delhi Public School, Ranchi as the national champion. We found no official release naming the 2021 national winner.

2022: the best-documented edition

The second edition launched on 29 August 2022 with the fee cut to ₹50 and the prelim moved to a mobile app. It ran on 8–9 December 2022. SAI announced the result on 15 February 2023: 61,981 students from 16,702 schools in 702 districts, with Uttar Pradesh the largest State at 20,470 students from 5,368 schools, followed by Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. SAI’s note put the State rounds in April 2023; PIB later said May–June. They became 120 rounds with 348 schools and 418 students, 39% of them girls, streamed as 84 episodes from 10 June 2023, with the State finals on Doordarshan. Twelve of the 36 State champions were government schools.

On 23 July 2023 the 72 State champion students, from 28 States and 8 UTs, were felicitated in Mumbai, and the national rounds were recorded at the Star TV studios there from 23 to 31 July 2023. They were broadcast as 13 episodes on Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar from 12 August 2023, on Saturdays and Sundays at 8 am. NKTV reported the result: Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, Puducherry won, DAV Public School (Jharkhand) was first runner-up and Kendriya Vidyalaya No. IV, Tezpur University (Assam) second runner-up. The national round was recorded, not live.

2023: the edition that stalled

The third edition launched on 29 August 2023 at ₹100 per student, with registration from 4 September to 5 October 2023, reported extended to 31 October. NTA was reported to refund the fee to government schools for students who appeared. A mock test ran on 15–17 December and the prelim on 21–22 December 2023, in 13 languages on an Android app. The result came on 8 March 2024: 256 schools went to State rounds held from 26 March to 10 April 2024, which were posted as 92 episodes on YouTube from 18 June 2024.

After that the record goes quiet. The Sikkim note of 31 July 2024 said the national finals were “scheduled in Delhi”. SAI’s EOI of 24 July 2024 sought a sponsor for the ₹3.25 crore prize money, and its EOI of 1 August 2024 sought an OTT partner, with proposals due by 15 August 2024. We found no record of the 2023 national final being held, recorded or broadcast.

Since 2023

On 29 September 2026 the official quiz page still says “Registrations for schools are now open” above the 2023 description; the NTA portal it links to does not respond, and the linked guidelines, FAQ and registration guide return empty files. National Sports Day 2026 ran on 28–30 August 2026 without the quiz. In 2025 the Fit India National Sports Day activity included a short open quiz on MyGov, a different product that anyone could enter; our comparison guide covers it.

Where other pages get this wrong

There was no “Fit India Quiz 2024” held in December 2024, and no 2026 timeline has been published.

Commonly published instead: Older pages on this site describe a 2024 quiz “held on December 28” and give a 2026 schedule running from registration in September to a finale in February 2027.

The last prelim was 21–22 December 2023. Past editions launched around National Sports Day and their stages slipped by months, so no date can be predicted for a new edition until the Ministry announces one.
