What the university's own pages do confirm is the departmental shape of the process: results, merit lists, vacant-seat notices and physical counselling are all published programme by programme rather than as one consolidated bulletin.

Because vacant-seat sittings are announced at short notice and close quickly, no date on this table should be treated as the final opportunity for a given programme.

Candidates treat MDU postgraduate admission as a single event with one deadline. It is not. The university publishes separately for each programme, and in the late phase of a cycle a department may notify a vacant seat on a Thursday and hold physical counselling the following Monday. The mistake that costs seats is not failing the entrance test; it is not watching the right notice page in September.

MDU splits its admission communication across at least four event pages: admission notices, vacant seats and counselling notices, entrance exam results, and admission merit lists. A candidate who bookmarks only the admissions page will see the 3 September call for vacant-seat applications but miss the 17 and 18 September physical-counselling notices for M.Sc Chemistry and M.A Yoga Science, which appeared on the counselling page. In the closing weeks of a cycle the counselling page moves fastest, because it carries the department-level sittings. Check all four, and check the counselling page most often, since the gap between notice and sitting there has been as short as three days in this cycle.

The September notices invite applications against seats left unfilled after the main counselling rounds, and they are filled by physical counselling at the department rather than by a fresh written examination. That changes what preparation means at this stage: what is being assessed is eligibility and merit position on the existing list, not new performance. The candidate who arrives with a complete document set, including the degree or provisional certificate, category certificate, Haryana domicile or residence proof where a reserved claim is being made, and the MDUCEE score record, is the candidate who converts. Turning up to enquire, without documents, generally wastes the sitting.

MDUCEE is described as an offline OMR paper of 100 multiple-choice questions in 75 minutes, extended to 90 minutes for M.Sc Forensic Sciences, with no negative marking. In a test with no penalty, leaving an item blank is strictly worse than a guess, and the discipline to fill every bubble before the sheet is collected is worth real marks. Seventy-five minutes for 100 questions is 45 seconds each, which is tight for numerical subjects, so the sensible sequencing is a fast first pass on recall items, a second pass on calculation, and a final minute reserved solely for completing unanswered rows on the sheet. Collegedunia reports MDUCEE running in two cycles in 2026, a June sitting from 10 to 16 June and a July sitting from 13 to 17 July, with the June cycle's counselling completed before the July papers were held. For a candidate this means the first cycle is not the only chance, but it also means the best seats in a programme are allotted from the earlier list. Waiting for the second cycle in the hope of a better score generally trades away choice of department and shift. Where a programme appears in both cycles, applying in the first and improving position through later counselling rounds is the stronger sequence.

MDU runs several professional programmes, LL.M most visibly, in two shifts, and the September notices treat them as separate admissions with separate vacant positions. The 20 September notice concerns Shift-II specifically, while an earlier notice on 27 August covered both Shift-I and Shift-II. Fee structures and timetables differ between shifts, and a candidate unwilling to attend the second shift should confirm which shift a vacant seat belongs to before applying against it. The same separation applies to self-financing scheme variants, where M.Sc Mathematics under SFS and MBA under SFS carry their own notices, their own seats and their own fees.
