Sfi kurs D: nationellt prov i svenska för invandrare

Sfi (kommunal vuxenutbildning i svenska för invandrare) gives adult immigrants basic knowledge of Swedish. Course D is the last course on every study path, and a national test must be used at the end of it. The D test has four independent parts: reading (two booklets of longer and shorter texts), listening (monologues, dialogues, announcements and news), writing (two tasks, one of them more formal) and speaking (one task alone and one together with another student). The parts can be taken on one day or spread over several days, on the provider's premises and never remotely. Sfi courses are graded Godkänt or Icke godkänt (skollagen 20 kap. 36 §). The test result must be given special weight but cannot decide the grade on its own. The tests are constructed by a group at Stockholm University and owned by Skolverket. Anyone resident in Sweden may take prövning in a graded sfi course (skollagen 20 kap. 40 §). From 1 January 2027 new syllabi replace course D with courses 1D, 2D and 3D, one for each study path.
