Dr. Mrityunjay Kumar combines more than three years of industrial maintenance experience with advanced research in mechanical engineering. After his B.Tech from KIIT University, he worked as an Assistant Engineer at KMC Constructions from 2013 to 2016 across maintenance planning and execution, equipment inspection, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and routine machinery upkeep. He was a Senior Research Fellow at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad from 2019 to 2025 and earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering there, researching nonlinear finite element analysis, advanced composites, structural dynamics and multi-objective optimization. He then held postdoctoral research roles at Mahindra University and IISc Bengaluru on funded aerospace and oil-and-gas projects. Since January 2026, he has served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Kharagpur. He has published eight peer-reviewed papers and reviews for the Journal of Vibration and Control.
