As an educator on ProSyllabus, you are entrusted with the important responsibility of shaping young minds and fostering a positive learning environment. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect expected from all educators on our platform.

1. Professional Integrity

Required Standards

  • Honesty: Provide accurate qualifications, experience, and credentials in your profile
  • Transparency: Clearly communicate your teaching methods, availability, and pricing
  • Academic Integrity: Do not engage in plagiarism, cheating, or provide unethical academic assistance
  • Credentials: Only teach subjects you are qualified and experienced to teach
  • Content Accuracy: Ensure all educational content is factually accurate and up-to-date

Prohibited Conduct

  • Misrepresenting qualifications, achievements, or student success rates
  • Guaranteeing specific exam scores or academic outcomes
  • Completing assignments or taking exams on behalf of students
  • Sharing copyrighted materials without proper authorization

2. Respect and Inclusivity

Expected Behavior

  • Respectful Communication: Treat all students, parents, and colleagues with dignity and respect
  • Inclusivity: Create a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles
  • Non-Discrimination: Do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, caste, disability, or socioeconomic status
  • Patience: Demonstrate patience and understanding with students at different learning paces
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide encouraging and constructive feedback that promotes growth

Prohibited Conduct

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of students
  • Discriminatory language or behavior
  • Belittling or humiliating students for mistakes or poor performance
  • Favoritism or preferential treatment based on personal biases

3. Quality of Education

Teaching Excellence

  • Preparation: Come prepared for every session with structured lesson plans
  • Engagement: Use interactive and engaging teaching methods
  • Clarity: Explain complex concepts in clear, understandable terms
  • Assessment: Provide regular assessments and track student progress
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek feedback and continuously improve your teaching methods
  • Up-to-Date Content: Stay current with curriculum changes and educational best practices

Prohibited Conduct

  • Consistently arriving late or unprepared for sessions
  • Providing outdated, incorrect, or misleading information
  • Ignoring student questions or dismissing their concerns
  • Teaching off-topic or irrelevant content

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

Required Standards

  • Protect student privacy and personal information at all times
  • Do not share student performance data publicly without consent
  • Maintain confidentiality of family and academic information
  • Use ProSyllabus communication channels for all student interactions
  • Report any data breaches or privacy concerns immediately

Prohibited Conduct

  • Contacting students through unauthorized channels (personal phone, social media)
  • Sharing student contact information with third parties
  • Publicly discussing student performance or personal matters
  • Recording or photographing students without explicit consent

5. Professionalism and Boundaries

Expected Behavior

  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a professional appearance during live sessions
  • Appropriate Language: Use appropriate, respectful language at all times
  • Boundaries: Maintain clear professional boundaries with students
  • Punctuality: Honor scheduled sessions and provide advance notice for cancellations
  • Availability: Respond to student queries in a timely manner (within 24-48 hours)

Prohibited Conduct

  • Inappropriate personal relationships with students
  • Using offensive, vulgar, or abusive language
  • Appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs during sessions
  • Sharing personal problems or inappropriate personal information with students
  • Soliciting money or gifts from students outside the platform

6. Platform Guidelines

  • Conduct all financial transactions through ProSyllabus (no off-platform payments)
  • Do not solicit students to leave the platform for private tutoring
  • Respect ProSyllabus intellectual property and branding guidelines
  • Provide honest reviews and feedback about the platform
  • Cooperate with platform investigations and quality assurance processes

7. Safety and Child Protection

⚠️ Zero Tolerance Policy

ProSyllabus has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of child endangerment, abuse, or inappropriate conduct with minors.

  • Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to ProSyllabus
  • Never request private meetings outside the platform
  • Maintain appropriate distance and professional conduct with minors
  • Do not engage in any behavior that could be perceived as grooming or inappropriate

8. Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately:

All reports will be investigated promptly and confidentially. Retaliation against individuals who report violations is strictly prohibited.

9. Consequences of Violations

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Warning: Formal written warning for minor first-time violations
  • Temporary Suspension: Suspension from the platform for a specified period
  • Permanent Ban: Immediate and permanent removal from the platform for serious violations
  • Legal Action: Referral to law enforcement for criminal violations
  • Withholding of Payments: Pending payments may be withheld during investigations
