Five content areas, in their published weights
Each mock applies the content-area percentages in the APC's OPRA exam guide (the APC applies these percentages to the 108 scored questions of its exam; the other 12 are unscored). After a mock, your result page shows your practice score in each area, so you can see where your marks go before the real exam. The topic notes below summarise the APC's own description of each area.
| APC content area | Weight | Per mock |
|---|---|---|
| Therapeutics and patient careClinical use of the other four areas: screening and dose calculations, primary health care, medicines in older people, children, pregnancy and breastfeeding, monitoring and adherence, harm minimisation, health promotion, confidentiality. | 45% | 54 |
| Biomedical sciencesPhysiology of every body system, pathophysiology, medical microbiology, immunology and vaccines, fluid, electrolyte, acid-base and blood disorders, signs, symptoms and laboratory values. | 20% | 24 |
| Pharmacology and toxicologyEffects of drugs on body systems, receptor theory, mechanisms of action, adverse reactions, drug interactions, overdose and antidotes, factors such as age, genetics, liver and kidney disease. | 15% | 18 |
| Medicinal chemistry and biopharmaceuticsPhysicochemical properties and ADME, formulations and dosage forms, drug stability and degradation, solubility and dissolution, formulation for common routes of administration, preservation and sterilisation. | 10% | 12 |
| Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamicsMetabolism, bioavailability and bioequivalence, half-life, clearance, distribution and protein binding, steady state, concentration-time data, dose adjustment in kidney and liver disease, loading doses. | 10% | 12 |
How the real exam is scored
- Scaled score, no published pass mark. The APC sets a passing standard for each version of the exam through psychometric standard-setting and does not disclose raw scores or percentages.
- 12 questions do not count. 10% of the 120 questions are unscored trial questions, spread evenly across the five areas, and you are not told which.
- Your result says whether you met the overall standard, with feedback for each content area that is not used to decide the result.
- The exam guide does not mention negative marking. Our mocks give one mark per correct answer, with no deduction for wrong answers. What you see is a practice score, never a pass or fail.
Every answer explained
When you submit, the answer review shows why each answer is right and why the tempting wrong options are wrong, with the source it rests on. Calculations (creatinine clearance, doses by body weight or surface area, dilutions, infusion rates, electrolytes) are worked step by step with units. The questions are original and written for practice: the real exam is covered by a non-disclosure agreement, and nothing here comes from it or from the APC's sample content.

Where do the questions come from?
Every question is an original exam-style question written for practice. Candidates agree to a non-disclosure agreement before the exam, so nothing here comes from the exam itself, from what candidates remember of it, or from the APC's sample content. The topics follow the content areas in the APC's public exam guide.
Is this connected to the Australian Pharmacy Council?
No. ProSyllabus is an independent study site, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Australian Pharmacy Council. Exam registration and the eligibility check are only done through the APC's own candidate portal. The APC publishes a free exam guide and sample content on its website.
Will a practice score tell me if I will pass?
No. The APC does not publish a pass mark: the real exam is scaled to a passing standard for each version. Use your practice score by area to decide what to revise.
How many mocks are there?
One full mock is included: 120 questions in 150 minutes. More are being added as each one is finished and checked; once you have unlocked, every mock added later opens for you at no extra cost.
Does it cover Australian pharmacy law?
No, and neither does the OPRA: the APC says the exam does not examine legislation or practice standards specific to Australia or New Zealand. Those come later, during the internship.
How do I pay and get access?
One payment, handled by our payment provider. The price is shown in your own currency where we support it. Access opens on this device straight after payment. Sign in afterwards to keep it on your account. Purchase policy.
