The pass standard reported by both PW and Careers360 is a minimum of 40 per cent in each subject together with an aggregate of 50 per cent, with no absence from any paper permitted. The mark allocation above comes from secondary sources; we could not read an ICSI page stating it, so verify it against the Institute's own syllabus notice before planning time per section.

CSEET runs in fixed sittings rather than on demand, and the registration cut-off falls several months before the test, not weeks. Sources disagree on how many sittings a year now run: Careers360 sets out a February, June and October cycle, while PW and CSExams still describe four sittings, CSExams naming the older January, May, July and November pattern. The two dates that matter in late September 2026 are the 31 October 2026 registration cut-off and the mid-December enrolment close for the February 2027 test.

The commonest mistake with CSEET is treating it as an exam you sign up for a few weeks ahead. It has two separate gates: registration as a student, which closes months before the test, and exam enrolment for a particular sitting, which closes a few weeks before it. Miss the first and no amount of readiness gets you into that sitting. As of 22 September 2026 the October sitting is shut on both counts and the next realistic target is February 2027.

For the February 2027 sitting, Careers360 reports the registration window as 1 July to 31 October 2026 and the enrolment window as 16 November to 15 December 2026, with a late-fee tail to 20 December. Those are two distinct payments and two distinct forms. Registration establishes you as an ICSI student; enrolment books you into a named sitting. The same two-stage pattern shut out late applicants from the October 2026 test, where registration closed in the early summer and enrolment ended on 15 August. If you intend to sit in February, the October deadline is the binding one, and there is no reported late window on the registration side to rescue a miss.

PW and Careers360 both report the standard as 40 per cent in each subject plus a 50 per cent aggregate, with no absence permitted from any paper. That combination punishes a lopsided preparation more than a weak one. A candidate who scores heavily in Business Communication and Economic and Business Environment but drops below 40 in Fundamentals of Accounting fails despite a comfortable aggregate. Because there is no reported negative marking, the rational approach in the weakest subject is to attempt every question rather than leave blanks, and to spend revision time lifting the floor subject over the 40 mark rather than adding marks where you are already safe.

The 2026 sources describe CSEET as centre-based pen-and-paper testing, a change from the remote-proctored format that older guidance still describes. Practically this changes the preparation: no system readiness check, no bandwidth risk, but a reporting time, a travel plan and a physical admit card, reported as released about ten days before the sitting. It also changes the practice regime. Timed writing on paper across four subjects in a single combined sitting is a different discipline from clicking through screens, and candidates who have rehearsed only on online mock platforms tend to misjudge how long transcription and marking of the answer sheet actually takes.

PW reports a revised structure effective from the June 2026 sitting, with four named subjects, Business Communication, Fundamentals of Accounting, Economic and Business Environment, and Business Laws and Management. Material written for earlier sittings may still be organised around the previous four-part scheme, including a component that no longer appears under those names. Before buying or reusing notes, check that the contents page maps onto the four subjects above. Where a source and the Institute disagree, the ICSI CSEET page and the Institute's own study material are the ones to follow; the mark split reported by secondary sites is not something we could verify officially.

Passing CSEET does not make you a Company Secretary; it admits you to the Executive Programme, which is followed by the Professional Programme and the Institute's training requirements. Careers360 reports that the CSEET result stays valid for four years from declaration, which gives a cushion but not an unlimited one: a candidate who clears the entrance test and then lets several years pass before registering for the Executive stage can find the result has lapsed. Treat the four-year validity as a planning constraint and register for the next stage while the pass is live.
