Commerce candidates should read the 200 to 100 split literally: the subject section alone is twice the weight of everything else on the paper, and it is written to postgraduate standard rather than to the Class 12 accountancy and business studies syllabus most applicants last studied. The numerical aptitude block in Section A is the one general block a commerce postgraduate should expect to clear near-perfectly.

This calendar is common to every subject paper in the combined PGT advertisement: one notification, one application window, one fee and one shared exam schedule notice. Only the individual CBT date and the result notice differ by post code, and DSSSB publishes both against the post code rather than the subject name.

Two things trip up Commerce candidates. The first is the gender split: of 37 posts under 830/24, only five are female posts, so a female candidate is competing for a handful of seats while the male block has 32. The second is the assumption that Commerce means accountancy. The reported Section B coverage reaches well beyond accounts into business organisation and management, business environment and law, business communication and management information systems, and statistics with hypothesis testing and regression.

Post Code 830/24 breaks down as 32 male posts, comprising 14 UR, 14 OBC, one SC and three EWS, against five female posts, being two UR, one OBC and two EWS. Delhi's PGT recruitment reserves posts by school type, which is why the male and female blocks are advertised and shortlisted separately and carry separate cut-offs. A female Commerce candidate is therefore effectively competing within a two-seat unreserved pool and should expect a cut-off behaving like a small-subject list rather than like the 14-seat male UR pool. Conversely, an OBC male candidate is looking at the single largest reserved block in the subject, 14 seats, which is the most forgiving position in Commerce and a reason not to abandon the attempt on cut-off anxiety alone.

Reported Section B coverage for Commerce runs from introduction to business, forms of business organisation, business ownership and trade, through business finance, the accounting process, accounting for depreciation, accounting of joint-stock companies, financial statement analysis, fund flow and cash flow statements, and cost accounting. A second reported strand adds business environment and law, business organisation and management, business communication and management information systems, and a statistics block covering probability, inferential statistics, hypothesis testing and regression. The statistics and law strands are where M.Com candidates who specialised in accounting lose marks, because they are examinable in their own right and are not reachable by accounting intuition. Allocate specific revision time to them rather than assuming the accounts blocks will carry the section.

Unlike the science subjects, PGT Commerce does not require a science master's at all. The reported essential qualification is a Master's degree in Commerce, Applied Economics or Business Economics with at least 50 per cent marks, together with a B.Ed. or another degree or diploma in training or education from an NCTE-recognised institution, including the integrated B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed. and three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed. routes. That means applied and business economics postgraduates are eligible for both Commerce 830/24 and Economics 829/24 and may hold applications against both post codes. Where the two exams fall on different dates under the same advertisement, that is a genuine second shot, and it is worth checking the schedule notice for a clash before assuming it is available. Upper age is reported as 36 for unreserved candidates.

Reported DSSSB PGT Commerce cut-offs from the 2022 cycle for the male papers were UR 148.96, OBC 123.01, SC 123.53 and ST 90.83 out of 300. Set against the same year's Computer Science male figures of 176.19 UR and 142.88 OBC, and Economics male at 175.51 UR, Commerce was the softer paper of the three by roughly 27 marks at the unreserved mark. Those are old figures and a different vacancy set, so they are a calibration aid rather than a target. The useful inference is directional: Commerce has historically rewarded a broad, moderately deep sweep of the whole syllabus over deep mastery of one strand, because the unreserved mark has sat closer to half the paper than to the near-perfect scores seen in tiny subjects such as Chemistry.

The marking is plus one and minus 0.25, so four wrong answers cancel one correct answer. On a 200-question Commerce section that arithmetic is unusually punishing, because the subject invites plausible guessing: a definition that is nearly right, a ratio with the numerator and denominator inverted, an accounting treatment that is correct under a different standard. The section is also long enough that pacing matters; at three hours for 300 questions the average is 36 seconds a question, which leaves no room for reworking a fund flow statement from first principles. Practise the numerical blocks, cost accounting and financial statement analysis in particular, to the point where the standard formats are recall rather than derivation, and skip anything that would need working out on paper.
