Danish Citizenship Test November 2026: Deadline, Fee and How to Register

The next Indfødsretsprøven — the knowledge test you must pass to apply for Danish citizenship — is on Wednesday 25 November 2026, from 13:00 to 13:45. To sit it you must be registered with a language centre by Wednesday 21 October 2026. That deadline is five weeks before the test, it is set in law, and missing it is the most common way to lose a sitting. This guide sets out every date and rule for the November sitting from SIRI’s own documents, and corrects what several English-language pages get wrong.

1. Choose a language centre that holds Indfødsretsprøven. SIRI’s list of centres marks the ones that hold the test with the code “IP” — 50 centres across all five regions in our count of the list. The June 2026 sitting actually ran at 46 of them, so ask your centre whether it will hold the November sitting.
2. Register with that centre — in person, by phone or by e-mail; many centres also take online registrations. You do not register with SIRI, the ministry or a national portal.
3. Pay the fee to the centre when you register — 946 kr. in 2026.
4. Check your ID now, not on the day. If you will need SIRI to accept a different document, the application is due by 28 October.
5. If you need special conditions (extra time, a helper, text-to-speech), apply to the centre by 28 October, with a statement from a doctor or other expert.
6. Download the current learning material — the August 2026 edition, which is the one for this sitting.
7. On the day, arrive at the time the centre gives you, with the original ID.

Missed the deadline? After 21 October you can apply to SIRI on its official form for permission to try to find a centre with a free seat. The form goes to SIRI by Digital Post, with “Danskprøver” chosen as the sub-recipient. Permission is not a seat: a centre can still refuse you for practical reasons, so treat this as a last resort rather than a plan.

Because the base amount is indexed every January, the 2027 fee will almost certainly differ from 946 kr.; do not rely on the 2026 figure for a 2027 sitting. No official page converts the fee into other currencies, and none is given here.

The test centre checks identity against a fixed list, and it wants the original document — a photocopy or a photo on your phone is refused. The accepted documents are a Danish residence card, an alien’s passport or refugee travel document issued by a Danish authority, an EU/EEA or Swiss passport or national ID card, or a passport from any other country with a Danish residence sticker in it. For most Indian, Filipino or Pakistani candidates that last point is the one to check: a passport on its own, without the sticker, does not qualify, so the residence card is usually the safer document to bring. A driving licence is never accepted, and SIRI says it cannot approve one. You will need the same ID again to collect your certificate if you pass.

The test is held twice a year, in the May–June and November–December terms. The recent sittings were 27 May 2025, 26 November 2025 and 3 June 2026, all timed 13:00–13:45. The executive order (BEK 453/2024 §2(2)) obliges SIRI to publish the next year’s dates and deadlines by 1 October, and SIRI’s page says the 2027 dates will appear there by 1 October 2026 at the latest. Until then any “2027 date” on another site is a guess.

Around six thousand people now sit each session — roughly twice the number in June 2022, when 1,510 passed at a 47.3% pass rate (about 3,200 sitting, our arithmetic) — so centres can fill up. Registering well before 21 October costs nothing and removes the risk of finding your nearest centre full.
